Vintage Slingerland 10x15 Parade Snare Drum, 1946-48 Badge Radio King Drum Heads
A nice old drum from a fine Vermont estate.
Some of my information is my interpretation of the research I found at VintageDrumGuide, which means I may have gotten something somewhat wrong, so please take a good look at the pictures to judge for yourself.
The badge appears to be from the 1946-48 period
My measurement of the drum is the diameter of the drum head x the height of the shell, excluding the hardware and rings.
Looking at the 1949 catalog found at the above site, I found what looks like this drum: Model 646 Standard Wide Strainer Model, 10x15, with wide spread strainer, key holder, tone control, double claw hooks, center stud, single tension, 8 rods, and calf heads.
The heads are both marked Genuine Calf Radio King Parade Drum.
Missing are the original sling, sticks, and key.
Overall size is 16" diameter x 12-3/4" high
Condition is decent, with nothing broken as far as I can tell.  The wood finishes
have a nice patina.
The metal finishes have oxidized to varying degrees.
I think the drum needs to be straightened and aligned, as it looks crooked (the tension rods on the high side are somewhat loose compared to those on the other side).  I don't know how well this will work, so I'm selling the drum as warped, good for display, if not for use.
