WWII Army Issue Wittnauer Pocket Compass
WWII Army Issue Witnauer Pocket Compass - Silvered brass casing, functional, "U.S." stamped on the flip-open front cover, hinged at the bottom, stamped "MFR'S PART No. K 1626-2" on the back cover, maker marked "WITTNAUER" above the "S" (South) position on the compass, gradated in five degree increments, steel blue needle floats on a red jeweled bearing, 45.8 mm x 65.5 mm inclusive of its ring, light age wear and contact marks on the case's exterior, very fine. Footnote: This pocket watch style compass was commonly used by the U. S. Army in both WWI and in WWII.
