Description

About the cleanest BC-342 receiver I've seen in many years ... Very clean front panel that appears to be totally original with all knobs and covers ... Cabinet has some minor paint issues on the back but it's just black paint so easy to address those ... Chassis is clean and comes with what appears to be a neatly constructed homebrew power supply built into the lower right corner of the chassis. The set powers
up and is trying to work but a very high hum
level overpowers any
signal received.
Data plate identifies it as a 1942 Farnsworth Mfg BC-342-D ... serial number L212. These WW II vintage radios are becoming hard to find in good cosmetic condition and this one is a beauty. Covers the range 1500 to 18,000 kc.
The radio measures approx 18" X 10" X 9" deep and well packed shipping weight will be 59 pounds from zip code 24012. If you're not in a hurry to receive the set and will be attending the Kutztown Fall Radio Meet in Sept ... I'd be glad to deliver the set there at no charge.
The radio receiver BC-342 are the superheterodyne type intended for general field usage. They are built ruggedly and are suitable for vehicular, portable, or fixed operation. The receiver are highly sensitive and selective and are designed for the reception of either continuous-wave (c-w) or amplitude-modulated (a-m) voice or tone signals. They may be divided into two main groups; the first group consisting of the receivers covering a frequency range from 1,500 to 18,000 kilocycle (kc) is six bands, and the second group consisting of the receivers covering a frequency range from 150 to 1,500 kc in four band. Within each group are models for operation from either storage batteries or alternating current (a-c) power source. All receiver models are identical in size, in general external and internal construction and appearance, and in the fundamental arrangement of their electrical circuits.
