WW2 U.S. Black Enamel Canteen - Vollrath 1942 dated - Flat Top Cap

This is a WW2 black enamel canteen.
This is probably for the Marine Corps.
It is marked Vollrath 1942 on the bottom
The cap is an early flat top variety
There is no cork inside the cap
There are a couple scrapes in the enamel that looks like i may have been painted over. (See last 2 photos)
